Self Esteem

Have you ever known someone who always talked negatively of themselves?

This probably means that they lack self esteem. As martial artist, it is part of our lifestyle to speak positively and think positively of ourselves. There are many way to improve your self esteem, which here at Middleburg Martial Arts, is a huge part of our curriculum.

  1. Remind yourself of your journey, especially the journey to black belt.

It is very easy to get caught up in everyday life. In those times where you feel unmotivated or are doubting yourself, remind yourself of the reasons why you are doing what you are doing.

2. Don’t dwell on your mistakes.

When you train in martial arts, one of the first things you are taught is that when you make a mistake, keep going and persevere. Many people have a hard time getting over when they mess up on a task, a test or even at work. To build your self – esteem, remember that you are only human and that you learn from your mistakes.

3. Take care of yourself, even when life gets hectic.

An important part of self – esteem is self love. Part of that is taking care of our bodies physically, mentally and spiritually. In martial arts we always make sure we move our bodies and our mind. We should always set aside time to give ourselves positive affirmations and to give ourself some TLC.

Remember to give yourselves at least 1 positive affirmation a day, and see how your self-esteem will improve! has been selected the nation’s #1 martial arts school in Jacksonville, FL since it was started!
